My Story

I’m Kathy, and I live outside of the Boston area with my husband, two kids, and two rescue dogs. I started struggling with my hormones in my mid 30s and was really frustrated when my physician could only offer limited solutions.

For a while, I suffered with poor sleep, quick change in temperament, acne, irritability, sadness, and physical irregularities that left me feeling like I was not enough as a mother and a wife. I didn’t have the energy or the time to evaluate options to assist me with hormonal changes. I felt helpless, frustrated, and defeated.

Eventually, I reached a point of realization.  I needed to prioritize my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, or I was going to continue this downward spiral impacting both my physical and mental health.

My intuition told me that I had a hormone imbalance, so I started there. I checked out a few books at the library and read them cover to cover. They confirmed my assumptions and validated my experience in a new way.

Through this process, I discovered the term “perimenopause” for the first time, and took a deep dive, reading everything within my reach. I was appalled by the lack of accurate information readily available to women transitioning into midlife.

In addition, I was concerned by the misinformation filtering into social media and being advised by well-meaning friends and family.  Even my interactions with medical providers resulted in missing pieces.

To educate myself, I started researching science-based recommendations which were specific to midlife women’s bodies. As a result, I changed my eating habits, adjusted my movement and exercise routines, and prioritized sleep. Utilizing natural tools like massages, essential oils, and herbs along with appropriate supplements reduced my toxic load and stress. This exploration led me to develop a prayer and meditation practice.

To complete my journey, I became a Nationally Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC). My practice has focused on midlife women in perimenopause and menopause.

Where I am now:

Now, when I experience these midlife symptoms, I know what to do, what levers to pull, and what tools to use to bring my hormones back into balance. While experience is a great teacher, there is still more to learn.

It takes real, daily self-love and commitment to prioritize my health and to seek a better outcome.  Because of this commitment, I am a better mother, wife, friend, and daughter. I also feel better than I did before midlife, and I feel confident I know how to make sure my road ahead is awesome.

Since 2019, I have been coaching midlife women to help them manage hormonal symptoms like belly weight gain, poor sleep, and an unstable mood so they can feel like themselves again, regain their energy, and lead a healthier life. I look forward to bringing my support, skill, and knowledge to HealthCare Pink® so that current and future clients can have the personal success and wellness they envision!                                                                                                                                                                                                                    -  Kathy
